Check out a betting preview for the Raptors which includes odds for the team to win the Atlantic Division, total win count and more…

Raptors 2014-2015 Season Betting Odds

  • Raptors Odds to Win Atlantic Division (-110)
  • Raptors Odds to Win NBA Championship (+3500)
  • Raptors Odds to Win Eastern Conference (+1600)
  • Raptors Regular Season Win Total 48.5

The Toronto Raptors are no longer under-the-radar after setting a franchise record for wins last season with 48. Some claim that Toronto’s success was due to weak competition in the Eastern Conference, but the oddsmakers do not believe it is a fluke, because they have set the total at 48.5 for the 2014-2015 season.

The oddsmakers also have the Toronto Raptors as the clear favourite to win the Atlantic Division at (-110) odds. Raptors head Coach Dwayne Casey expects no less:

“Our goal is to win the division, whatever it takes,” Casey said. “My job is to make sure we get back and get up and running again and get that chip back on our shoulder from last year.”

The emergence of Kyle Lowry has drawn attention from all around the NBA, and like most stars playing for the Raptors, other teams have tried to lure him down south. However, Kyle Lowry has stated his intention to stay in Toronto after signing a 4-year $48 million contract. Much of Lowry’s success is attributed to Dwayne Casey — a coach that believed in him and allowed him to flourish as a starting PG where he set career highs in points, assists and 3-pointers.

When Kyle Lowry is put on the floor with Demar DeRozan and Jonas Valanciounas, they form the Raptors version of the “Big 3” (which is admittedly still a work in progress). Demar Derozan was selected to his first all-star game last season, and had a career high in average points per game, which was largely attributed to his on-court chemistry with Lowry.

The Raptors coach staff believe Jonas Valanciunas could develop into one of the elite defensive players in the league and he has been working with Hakeem Olajuwon to improve his game. There were some real positives that could be taken from the play of Valanciounas at the FIBA World Cup this summer, where he represented his native Lithuania.

The Raptors have also added some bench depth which will address one of the main concerns they had after the playoffs last season, as injuries stretched the team thin heading into the post season. But, what is most important, is that this team has adopted the gritty, defensive mentality of Dwayne Casey, which is the number one reason fans should be optimistic of this Raptors team in 2014-2015.
