CFL West Final: Edmonton vs Calgary Prediction

The CFL West Final playoff has turned out to be a “Battle of Alberta” as the Calgary Stampeders will host the Edmonton Eskimos.

Calgary are -6.5 point favourites over Edmonton in the West Final with a game total of 48 points. (Odds courtesy of Sports Interaction).

Mike Reilly took over midway through the West semifinal because Edmonton was not able to mount much offense under Matt Nichols, who only scored 4 points off of 4 turnovers in the first half. However, Reilly was clearly hampered by his foot injury and was not able to do much better than Nichols.

The health of Reilly will be a major factor, and if he is in the same condition as last game, then Edmonton doesn’t stand much of a chance. The Edmonton defense looked great In the win over Saskatchewan, and was responsible for most of the points put on the board. But, that was against Kevin Glenn, who would have made any defense look good that day.

Now, the Eskimos will have to face best offensive-line in the CFL, and they will be looking to make running lanes for all-Canadian RB Jon Cornish. Cornish has scorched Edmonton this season for 250 rush yards in two games this season. In fact, Cornish has rushed for over 100 yards in each of the last 4 meetings dating back to 2013.

Edmonton is 2-9 SU in its last 11 games when playing on the road against Calgary
Calgary is 21-4 SU in its last 25 games at home
Calgary is 8-1 this season with Jon Cornish in game

Prediction: Look for Cornish to wear down this Edmonton defense and take Calgary -6.5
