NFL 2015: Steelers vs Patriots Week 1 Prediction

Steelers vs Patriots Week 1 predictionMuch of the talk surrounding the opening game of the 2015 NFL season between the Steelers and the Patriots is focused on Tom Brady and his suspension, or lack thereof. Instead, we focus on where sports bettors can profit as we have picked out a few prop bets that look to be winners.

The New England Patriots were -3.5 point favourites before news hit of Tom Brady’s suspension for ‘Deflate Gate’ being lifted. Now, bettors have pushed the line all the way to Patriots -7, with the over/under coming in at 52 points.

The defense of the Pittsburgh Steelers is no longer the ‘Iron Curtain” of old, and they rely more on their high-powered offense that is led by Ben Roethlisberger. This means the Steelers D will not be looking forward to facing Tom Brady, who is known to put up numbers against this Pittsburgh team.

Fantasy sports bettors who have Tom Brady on their team are licking their chops, but we dont see much value in taking the Patriots QB who is sure to be on everyone’s team. Instead, we recommend some prop bets that are focused on a player that might otherwise fall under the radar.

Running back DeAngelo Williams gets the start for the Pittsburgh Steelers in place of the suspended Le’Veon Bell. The Steelers will need to get the running game going in order to keep Tom Brady off the field, so Williams figures to play a large role. Williams also has recently had a child, and his teammates are eager to get him involved in the game.

“He just had a baby, so he’s ready to win the game ball for him,” Roethlisberger said this week.

Predictions: DeAngelo Williams Over 55.5 rushing yards and DeAngelo Williams to score a TD at (+100) odds which are both available at Bodog Canada.
