At the end of the 2013 NHL regular season the Canucks find themselves the #3 seed and the lone Canadian team in the Western Conference playoffs. Read our breakdown of the Canucks odds of winning the 2013 Western Conference playoffs and advancing to the Stanley Cup final!

At the beginning of the lockout shortened season, Roberto Luongo was the subject of trade rumours after Cory Schneider was named the starting Goalie. He had trade rumours swirling around him all the way until the deadline but remained with the Canucks, which couldn’t have worked out better because Cory Schneider has been sidelined with an “undisclosed” injury.

“He’s got the body injury that’s day-to-day,” said Vancouver Coach Alain Vigneault.

“If he was healthy, he’d be practising. He’s got an injury that, obviously, at this time, we’re not willing to disclose.

A big key to Vancouver’s success will be the power play, which has been on fire to close out the season scoring at a 24% rate. This is partly due to the trade deadline acquisition of Derek Roy who acts as a playmaker with the man advantage. They are also getting more pucks to the net, especially since Jason Garrison has hit his stride as of late, blasting pucks from the blue line that defenders are scared to block.

In the first round the Vancouver Canucks are set to face the #3 seed San Jose Sharks in a series where they have home ice advantage. Vancouver fans will be familiar with with the Sharks because of the hard-fought Western Conference final between the two teams back in 2011-2012. Once the series betting odds come out we will do a preview. As of now the odds for the Vancouver Canucks to win the Western Conference are +450
