2015 Rogers Cup Toronto Odds

Genie Bouchard is is (+6600) odds to win the Rogers Cup outright, which is way up from the (+800) Bouchard was at last year when the tournament was held in Montreal. This has much to do with Bouchard’s well publicized run of poor tennis that has seen her lose 12 of her last 14 matches.

As a result, Bouchard has slipped to #25 in the rankings, and she is even a (+175) underdog in her first match against Belinda Bencic on Tuesday. Bencic upset Bouchard earlier this year at Eastbourne, so she will be brimming with confidence for this match at York University in Toronto.

Bouchard has not played since revealing she had an abdominal injury after her first round exit at Wimbledon. Genie has also announced that she has parted ways with coach Sam Sumyk and hired the short-term services of Marko Dragic. This is the second time Bouchard has fired a coach in the last 8 months, which is not a good sign heading into this tournament.

Serena Williama (+100) is the clear-cut favourite at the 2015 Rogers Cup with a win returning even money. Serena’s run of play in 2015 has been dominant, and opponents can only hope that she takes it easy in Toronto before the US Open so they have a chance.

Some lesser known Canadian ladies in the 2015 Rogers Cup are Francoise Abanda (+50000), Gabriella Dobrowski (+100000) and Caral Zhao (+50000).

Ottawa, Ontario’s Dobrowski is considered more of a doubles players and not much is expected of her in the singles draw. If she happens to get past her first round match against Flavia Penetta, she will have to face Serena Williams.

Montreal, Quebec’s Francoise Abanda is considered a rising star in Canadian tennis and she has just hired high-profile coach Antonio Van Grichen. Abanda is a (+800) in her first round match against Andrea Petkovic.

Carol Zhao is from Richmond Hill, Ontario and she will be a hometown favourite at the Rogers Cup. She has a real legitimate chance of winning her first round match against America’s Madison Brengle, and oddsmakers consider Zhao as a (+400) underdog.
