eugenie bouchard and canadians at 2013 us open

US Open 2013 Women

At only 19 years of age Eugenie Bouchard is Canada’s highest ranked female player at #57 in the world and is (+50000) or 500 to 1 odds to win the US Open outright. Genie Bouchard has received a favourable draw in 2013 which should really give her the chance to shine while all eyes are watching because she has been hampered with unlucky draws lately, facing top opponents in the early rounds. In the first round Genie Bouchard is a (-320) favourite over Karolina Pliskova. If Bouchard were to advance, she would likely face Angelique Kerber, a player in a slump that is a very beatable opponent for Bouchard.

Sharon Fichman (+50000)  from Toronto is 500 to 1 to win the US Open outright. The main criticism of  Fichman aside from her attitude is her reputation as a “pusher” who lacks the strength and skill to hit winners. Fichman has had success against weaker players in qualifying with whom she can frustrate with her style. But opponents that have the strength to smash Fichman’s moonballs for winners seems to be her bane. Fichman is +333 against Sorana Cirstea in the first round.

Aleksandra Wozniak used to be the top female singles player in Canada but has seen her world ranking drop down to #257 after being sidelined with a nagging shoulder injury that has kept her out of action for the better part of a year. Wozniak is a (+500000) or 5000 to 1 to win the US Open outright in 2013. Wozniak originally returned from injury in March 2013 at the Sony Open, but felt pain in her shoulder and had to rest another 3 months. Wozniak then returned at the Newhaven Open where she lost to Ekaterina Makarova. Although Aleksandra Wozniak is a (-250) favourite over Vesna Dolonc in the first round, it is unclear on how the injury will affect her during the long tournament.

US Open 2012 Mens

Milos Raonic (+8000) is an 80 to 1 shot with the oddsmakers to win the US Open. In his first round match Raonic is -2500 over Thomas Fabbiano in the first round and has received somewhat of a favourable draw. We have broken down the chances of Milos Raonic winning the 2013 US Open in more detail here.

Vasek Pospisil (+75000) goes off at 750 to 1 to win the US Open. Pospisil has earned respect from the oddsmakers as of late after his strong run at the Rogers Cup. Pospisil is a considerable favourite at (-700) odds over first round opponent Rogerio Durta Silva. However, if Pospisil reaches the second round he will have to face Rafael Nadal which makes it hard for him to go deep in the US Open this year.

The Canadian tennis veteran Frank Dancevic (+150000) or 1500 to 1 odds to win the 2013 US Open outright after reaching through the qualifiying stages. Dancevic is a +185 in first round match against Robin Haase and would face either Sam Querry or Tommy Robredo in the second round. However, judging by the recent form of Dancevic deep run seems unlikely, especially since he has already played through qualifying.
